Padres say Mason Miller’s availability for WBC final TBD

San Diego Padres manager Craig Stammen said a decision on All-Star Mason Miller’s availability for the U.S. team’s World Baseball Classic championship game Tuesday against Venezuela needs to be determined.
Miller helped shut the door on the Dominican Republic in Sunday’s 2-1 semifinal victory, securing the final six outs of the match. Stammen said the decision for Tuesday’s game will be made after evaluating how Miller feels.
“It’s not ruled out, it’s not decided,” Stammen said Monday at the Padres’ spring training camp in Arizona. “How we do it with every pitcher, we evaluate them after they come out, see how they feel, then calculate when their next outing is. So he’s in the same boat.”
Miller was instrumental in Team USA’s success in the tournament, providing saves in two of the team’s victories.
