What is Grok, and why is it important?
Grok is a Smart IA chatbot built by the company of Elon Musk, Xai. It is designed to be full of mind, useful and more conversational than most assistants. What brings out Grok is his personality. It is not only informative, it is entertaining.
Grok 4 is the latest version of the chatbot. This improved model offers faster responses, a clearer humor and a deeper understanding of the context. This is the version that is currently taking place in Teslas, and it is designed to feel more human than ever.
What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
Grok is not available in all teslas
If your Tesla meets the requirements, you already get Grok 4. Just press your screen, start chatting and enjoy the ride. However, your Tesla must have an AMD Ryzen processor, which is included in models built from mid-2010, to get Grok. Ancient cars with Intel Atom processors are not yet able to execute Grok. You will also need the version 2025.26 software (available from July 2025) or more.
Another thing you need is a good Wi-Fi connection or a premium connectivity plan of $ 9.99 / month of Tesla. Grok needs it to process its answers using cloud technology, which requires the Internet.
The Grok deployment plan begins slowly
Anyone in the United States with a Tesla delivered since July 12, 2025, will have a good grok to go. It is only available in the United States because Tesla collects comments. Ancient models such as the S model, the 3 model, the X model, the Y model or Cybertruck will need a software update to get Grok.

You can also check the Tesla application by pressing menu icon In the upper right corner and ask what are the specifications of your vehicle.

What it means for you
This deployment is hot on the beginnings of Grok 4, which is the last model of XAI AI. This special version of Grok aroused a little buzz (and some raised eyebrows) for its bold responses. You can start chatting with Grok today if your Tesla meets the requirements. Do not expect it to help you with navigation, play music or adjust the air conditioning.
Kurt’s main dishes
The arrival of Grok in Tesla vehicles could make more entertaining readers with talkative AI on board. Talking to your car on these long solo discs can potentially make the ride shorter. It’s just the beginning, however, because it can still do nothing useful. But there is room to grow beyond the answer to questions. Once he is able to access your car’s controls, your car will really feel like Kitt, the famous artificially intelligent car from the 1980s television series Knight Rider.
