‘Palestinian State Push Rewards Hamas, Endangers Jews’
France summoned the Ambassador of us Charles Kushner on Sunday after having published a scathing open letter in the Wall Street Journal To President Emmanuel Macron, accusing the French government of not having adequately fought growing anti -Semitism and warning that “public statements harangant Israel Enhold the extremists”.
The diplomatic confrontation increases tensions between Washington and Paris on the approach of France in matters of Jewish security and Middle East policy, with Kushner Wall Street Journal Letter – Dated Monday, August 25, but released to the press on Sunday afternoon – marking an extraordinary public reprimand of an American envoy to exercise to the chief of the nation of his nation.
Writing on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of the Allies of Paris, Kushner opened its doors with a direct assault on Macron’s file: “On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Allied Liberation of Paris, which ended the deportation of the Jews of the French soil, I write a deep concern concerning the dramatic rise of anti -Semitism.”.
The ambassador painted a dark image of French Jewish life, declaring that “anti -Semitism has long marked French life, but it has exploded since the barbaric assault of Hamas on October 7, 2023.” He continued: “In France, not a day passes without Jews being attacked in the street, synagogues or devoured schools, or companies belonging to vandalized Jews. Your own domestic ministry reported anti -Semitic incidents even to preschool schools.”
Kushner then pronounced his most sharp criticisms of Macron’s policy in the Middle East: “Public declarations harangue Israel and make gestures towards the recognition of a Palestinian State Enholn the extremists, fuel violence and endanger Jewish life in France. In today’s world, antizionism is antidemitism – the plain and the simple. ”
Based on his personal link with President Donald Trump, Kushner wrote: “President Trump and I have Jewish children and share Jewish grandchildren. I know what he thinks of anti -Semitism, just like all Americans. ” He detailed the current Aggressive anti-antititismism measures of Trump: “He ordered the education service to enforce civil rights protections for Jewish students on university campuses, clearly indicating that harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated.”
The letter A describes additional Trump administration actions: “He has expanded resources for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ministry of Internal Security to protect the synagogues and Jewish schools.
Kushner highlighted Trump’s broader strategic impact: “And by paralyzing the Iranian nuclear weapon writing program, he directly struck the first sponsor of the state of anti -Semitism and terror in the world and saved millions of lives. These measures prove that anti -Semitism can be fought effectively when leaders have the will to act. “
The ambassador may have painted his most overwhelming evaluation in the current state of France: “Today, many French Jews fear that history is repeated in Europe. Parents encourage their children to emigrate; Surveys show that most French citizens believe that another holocaust could occur in Europe. Almost half of the French youth never reports having heard of the holocaust. ”
He directly challenged France’s education system: “What are children taught in French schools if such ignorance persists?”
The letter ended with specific requirements: “Mr. President, I urge you to act decisively: apply the laws on hatred crime without exception; Ensure the safety of schools, synagogues and Jewish companies, continue offenders to the fullest; And abandon the stages that give legitimacy to Hamas and its allies. ” Kushner has closed by positioning himself as ready to work with France: “As an American ambassador in France, I am ready to work with you and with the leaders of the French company to forge a serious plan which approaches the roots of anti -Semitism and the bat.”
The French government’s decision to summon Kushner for diplomatic consultations signals Paris dissatisfaction with the unprecedented public criticism of the first American representative. French officials have not yet responded publicly to the specific allegations of the letter, but the invocation represents one of the most serious diplomatic incidents between the allies of recent memory.
The diplomatic crisis is based on the previous tensions of last week when the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his own letter to Macron, writing: “Your call to a Palestinian state flows on this anti -Semitic fire. It is not diplomacy, it is seen. Macron had announced that France would officially recognize a Palestinian state at a United Nations meeting in September, attracting Swift Rebukes by Israeli and American officials.
The French presidency responded to the accusations of Netanyahu by calling the claims of the Israeli leader “abject” and “erroneous”, preparing the path for the even more direct intervention of Kushner on behalf of the Trump administration. The Ambassador’s letter suggests that Washington intends to protect Jewish communities a central element of its diplomatic pressure on European allies.
