While lots of celebs are channeling Anderson’s signature messy updos this fall, the actor’s new hair is like nothing we’ve ever seen on her before. She’s worn plenty of shades of blonde, from her sun-bleached Baywatch days and her honey-toned Barb Wire shade to her more recent platinum bob. At least for now, she’s ready for a completely new era: She’s currently donning a midlength ginger shag. Director and photographer Marco Bahler shared the only photos we have of Anderson’s new do on Instagram (see red-haired Pamela Anderson here!), but we’re eager to see her new look in action.
The original rock-star girlfriend has taken on the role of the rocker with her new cut. Her soft, shaggy lob is easygoing and effortless—a departure from her past looks, which were heavy, messy-on-purpose blowouts. The color is distinctly red but a warm, copper tone that seems like a natural transition from her former blonde.
A source close to Anderson told Vogue that the actor’s hair update is in preparation for her upcoming role in Love Is Not the Answer, directed by Michael Cera, and that she brought references of Swedish actors Gunnel Lindblom and Bibi Anderson to Parisian hairstylist John Nollet for the cut and color. Whether it’s a bit of beauty Method acting or the ginger shag is here to stay, we’re all for Anderson’s new era.
