A missing dog named Moose is safely home after a dramatic rescue by NYPD officers from under a subway train in Manhattan.

The little black dog escaped from his owners and ended up hiding under a northbound 2 train at the 14th Street station on Thursday.

The animal was struck by the train before taking refuge under one of the cars, a New York police spokesperson told People magazine.

“When Moose the dog got loose and hid under a 2 train, our [NYPD Special Ops Emergency Service Unit] police officers came to our aid,” New York police posted on X.

Bodycam footage released by the New York Police Department shows an officer descending a ladder onto the train tracks, turning on a flashlight to search for the missing puppy.

“Where is he?” » can be heard saying the officer before spotting the little dog hiding in the shadows.

“Come here,” the officer said, luring the dog. “Come on. Come on, buddy.”

Moments later, the officer picks up Moose and carries him away from the train tracks before lifting him onto the subway platform where other officers are.

“Yeah!” you can hear one person say.

Moose was showered with pets before being reunited with his owners, according to People.

“Thanks to [NYPD Transit] police, Moose has been reunited with his owner safely!”, the NYPD posted on X.

Earlier this year, NYPD officers also responded to rescue a small dog seen swimming in the East River, according to FOX 5.

The NYPD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
