Members of the anti-IDF group Peleg Yerushalmi blocked Highway 4 near Bnei Brak, as border police prepared to disperse the protesters and reopen the road.

Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) anti-IDF activist group Peleg Yerushalmi blocked Highway 4 near Bnei Brak on Sunday afternoon, Israeli police confirmed.

Highway 4 was closed between the Aluf Sade Interchange and the Em Moshavot Interchange in both directions, police noted, adding that traffic south of the Em Moshavot Interchange is being redirected towards Petah Tikva.

Video footage shared by Walla appears to show Border Patrol agents attempting to disperse the protesters, who are blocking vehicles from passing while sitting in the road.

Officers arrested at least three of the protesters, police later confirmed.

Protesters reportedly shouted that the police officers who tried to disperse the demonstration were “Nazis,” Walla reported.

A previous ultra-Orthodox anti-conscription protest blocked the highway near Ashkelon earlier Sunday, but the road was quickly reopened after police arrived on the scene and dispersed the demonstrators.

A similar protest by the group took place Monday at the same location.

Hodaya Ran contributed to this report.

This is a developing story.
