Patriots ST coach makes admission on Saints receiver's rare speed
New England Patriots special teams coach Jeremy Springer believes New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is the fastest player in the NFL.
It was a compliment that also served as a warning of the challenge that awaits the Patriots on the road in New Orleans on Sunday. Shaheed is known for his big-play ability, and he made that evident by torching the New York Giants' defense last week.
He averaged a staggering 28.5 yards per reception on five catches for 114 yards to help the Saints earn their first win. Springer isn't shying away from Shaheed being someone the Patriots need to watch out for in the Week 6 matchup.
"Fastest guy in the NFL," Springer said, via Boston Herald's Doug Kyed.

This is certainly not hyperbole by Springer, considering Shaheed recorded the fastest touchdown of the season in the Saints' Week 5 win over the Giants. He reached a top speed of 21.72 mph on an 87-yard touchdown reception.
The wide receiver will present a tough challenge for the Patriots' secondary on the road.
