You probably know now that Pebble is back. Everyone knows. But the marketing of these products could not quite use the term “pebble”. Now it has changed and nature heals.
Core Devices, the company behind the new Pebble revival, announced that its next watches will abandon their brand “Core” and adopt the nickname of Pébble Classique. The Core 2 duo will now be officially known as Pebble 2 Duo, and the Core Time 2 will be The Pebble Time 2. This comes after the company has successfully reacted the brand – with the authorization to use the Pebble name, the devices will now be called Pebble. The real company behind them will continue to be called the main devices, because “we are the devices that are part of your main daily life”. Perhaps he will eventually find out in new categories of products unrelated to Pebble? Who knows.

There are also some news on the real watches to be shipped. The company also announced a minor delay for its first product, the PEBBLE 2. Duo. The first batch of pre-orders, which was planned for an expedition in July (so just this week or next week), should now be shipped by the end of August, the second batch following in mid-September.
The company said that delay is a strategic decision to improve the sustainability of the watch. The team strives to improve water resistance from the device beyond the initial target of an IPX8 note, which certifies it as a splash and submersible up to 1 meter. After having successfully encountered this specification, they want to see if the certification goes even further, testing the integrity of the device at depths of 5, 10, 15 and even 20 meters. This iterative test process, which requires 5 to 7 days for adhesives to heal between each cycle, is apparently the main reason for the adjusted production calendar. The good news is that it is not a horrible delay – just a month more, let’s hope it.
This hardware delay provided a window extended to the software team to polish the new PEBBLE mobile application, which should be compatible with most older pebble models and is currently in a closed beta version on iOS testflight and available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store. An open beta version should be launched in the next two to three weeks. Unfortunately, we have bad news – orders based on the United States will lead to an additional rate of about $ 10 per device, so you will not be spared this if you buy one. Hopefully, however, we can really check them ourselves soon.
