5 Features I’m Not Worried About When Buying a New Phone
What is really important for you when buying a new phone? Each year, telephone manufacturers publish new exciting equipment, larger screens, better cameras, fantasy software features and other waste that is not worthy of media. There are some non-negotiations, but there are also several features that I don’t care at all.
When I try to buy a new phone, I usually have a solid idea for what I’m looking for. Naturally, this will vary from person to person in terms of brand preference or loyalty, budget and some other things.
Given the maturity of the telephone market in 2025, most mid -range or headlight phones will be fantastic. I just want a nice big screen, decent cameras and a solid software support. Consequently, I generally do not know most of media or new features praised by brands, and you may also have it. These are the five that do not worry me.
I don’t care about the wireless load
Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I used the wireless load on my phone – or even the inverted wireless load, by the way. Of course, this is a little practical feature, but it is not important to me.
When the new Galaxy S25 series arrived and Samsung said they were “ready for Qi2”, people were excited. However, Samsung did not put magnets inside the phones, which has changed many fans. The wireless load improves, faster and easier to use, and Qi2 is the last standard, which offers faster load and magnets for easy alignment.

Whether you have a new ultra galaxy S25, the latest iPhone or a Pixel 9 Pro, you probably have a wireless compatible phone. A few years ago, the large media threshing was an inverted wireless load, where the owners could recharge a smartwatch or wireless headphones using their phone.
Of course, that’s cool and everything, but it is a niche feature for very specific situations that do not apply to me. You could be a road warrior who is always on the go or has a fancy wireless charge cushion in your vehicle, but for me, they are both unimportant and I would be happy to do without it.
The wireless load is still too slow on most models, too hot and not practical enough when I can launch my phone on any USB-C cable at home or in my car and get a faster load. I will gladly exchange it for a 3.5 mm helmet socket.
IP notes and water resistance
Having a phone that offers a certain level of water resistance certainly gives you peace of mind, and when it was the new cool thing, I bought media threshing. However, I do not remember a time when I never dropped my phone into the sink, in a swimming pool, or does anything where this IP68 water note would save me.
Do not get me wrong, it’s a good thought, and I would probably be more careful with my phone around the pool if it did not have a kind of note, but it is not a break for me.

If you do not know how these notes work, IP69 offers the highest level of input protection against dust and water. Instead of the IP68, which can manage specific depths during certain durations, IP69 launches a notch and the telephone is protected against high pressure water.
If you ever leave your phone in the dishwasher, it should be sure – you know, because it happens all the time.
Fantasy cameras oriented
The days of smartphones with terrible front cameras have been over. I am not one for selfies. I do not use Snapchat, and on rare occasions, I call friends or family, whatever the front camera that I have had for more than 5 years, it was enough.
Whenever I make a video call, the biggest problem is connectivity or lack of Wi-Fi, not the number of megapixels that the manufacturer has slapped inside the front camera. Does my Samsung Galaxy need a 32 Mp front camera for agitated video calls or the random selfie that will end on Facebook or Insta? Not really.

Do not get me wrong – I want it to be decent, but I never even look at the specifications of the front camera when buying a new phone. It could also be because I do not buy budgetary models, so I have nothing to fear. Talk to me when the camera can hide under the screen and always be usable.
Wild quantities of storage
These days, many phones come with the possibility of going to 1 TB of storage, which is just wild for me. Who uses so much space? Do you really have 700 GB of photos and videos, or do you need 200 applications on your phone?

I’m glad that 64 GB is no longer the default value, but I don’t need excessive storage on my phone either. I have a 256 GB Galaxy S25 +, and that’s more than enough. I keep things clean, delete garbage and I only have the applications I need. I also use Google photos as a backup. The iCloud and Google photos are excellent storage options instead of buying a 1 to expensive phone. Just be careful and keep things organized; Otherwise, you will also have to work hard to release the iCloud space.
Battery size
While phones have improved considerably over the past decade in almost all categories, the battery is still quite stagnant. Of course, we see phones with new sophisticated silicon carbide batteries, but a phone with a massive battery is not important to me.
Personally, the battery life is a non-professional for me these days. Almost every half decent phone that I will buy will have a battery good enough to last all day. And, if it becomes a little low, faster loading technology is there to save the day. Do not get me wrong, I don’t want a 2,400 mAh battery in an iPhone 17 pro phone or a flagship galaxy phone, but I don’t need to pay more for something wild or have a crazy fatty phone like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Whether it is my old pixel, the Galaxy S10 +, my ultra aging Galaxy S21, or the new Galaxy S25 + that I use today, the battery life is not a problem. Most phones easily last a whole day, and a quick 15-minute car in the car while loading USB-C will give me enough juice to last until tomorrow.
With most phones offering a solid battery life, fast charge technology and inexpensive portable chargers that are a penny a dozen on Amazon, I prefer that telephony manufacturers are focused on other areas instead of becoming too large and heavy due to a massive battery cell.
Again, everyone has different desires or preferences, but these are a few things that I don’t care about a new phone. Give me a beautiful screen, fast performance, solid rear cameras and good software management, and I’m ready. All the toilets and new fanciful goodies are not so important, and I have the feeling that many of you agree.
There is a reason why I kept my ultra galaxy S21 with 128 GB of storage for so long. I didn’t need any of the excited features by each new generation. He always has a beautiful screen, superb cameras, lasts all day and works very well. Of course, storage was starting to become almost a problem, but nothing that I could not manage, and soon it will cease to obtain software updates and new versions of Android. It is more important for me than water resistance or wireless load.
