President Donald Trump said Thursday he was extending a pause in strikes on Iranian energy plants for 10 days, hours after saying Iran was “begging for a deal” in the fourth week of Operation Epic Fury.

Shortly before entering the East Room of the White House for a Greek Independence Day celebration, the president visited Truth Social to announce the extension.

“As per the request of the Iranian government, please let this statement serve to signify that I am suspending the period of destruction of the energy plant for 10 days until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time,” he wrote.

“The talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous claims to the contrary from Fake News Media and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” added the president.

Trump’s comments came hours after he told reporters that Iran was desperate to reach a deal to end the war.

“We estimated that it would take us about four to six weeks to accomplish our mission; 26 days later, we are extremely, very, very ahead of schedule. The Iranian regime now admits that it has been decisively defeated,” he said.

“They tell people, ‘It’s a disaster.’ They know it. That’s why they’re talking to us, and they wouldn’t talk otherwise, but they’re talking to us because they have a disaster on their hands. They are defeated. They can’t come back,” he said.

The president stressed that Iran must make “the right deal.”

“They now have a chance to reach an agreement, but it’s up to them, and they will tell you, ‘We are not negotiating. We will not negotiate.’ Of course, they negotiate. They were erased,” he said. “Who wouldn’t negotiate? »

“They’re begging to make a deal. We’ll see if we can make the right deal, and they’ll make the right deal; then the strait will open, the Strait of Hormuz will open,” he added.
