Pitcher Rich Hill, 45, slated to start for Royals on Tuesday

Chicago – The Royals of Kansas City plan to call the 45 -year -old Rich Hill of miners to start against Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, marking the 21st Gaucher season in the majors.

According to ESPN Research, when Hill takes up the mound, he will bind Edwin Jackson for most of the franchises played in the history of the MLB at 14. He will also be the first launcher, 45 years or over, to appear in a game from Bartolo Colon in 2018.

Hill was in Triple-A Omaha after joining the Royals as part of an off-season business. It has a 4-4 file with an MPM of 5.36 in nine starts in Omaha.

Kansas City director Matt Quatraro confirmed the club’s plans after the 12-4 Monday evening victory against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Hill appeared in four games last season for Boston. The start on Tuesday will make him the oldest active baseball player.

Hill made 11 departures in the playoffs during his four years with the Los Angeles Dodgers, including two departures from the World Series in 2017 and another in 2018. He went 11-5 during the last regular season.

Hill is 90-74 with an MPM of 4.01 in 386 MLB games in career. He launched 1,409 rounds and withdrew 1,428.
