Gaza-bound flotilla resumes journey from Crete toward Gaza
After two days anchored near Crete, the flutilla of 40 ships again had Italian and Spanish warships are navigating nearby to monitor and support its passage.
The flotilla to Gaza of around forty ships resumed her trip after two days to stop near a small island in the south of the Greek island of Crete. The flotilla was waiting for two days of arrival of naval ships.
Italy and Spain said they would send naval ships to monitor the flotilla or provide aid in the event of larger attacks on ships. The Global Sumud Flotilla has been sailing for a month since his departure from Barcelona in Spain on September 1.
An Italian naval ship seemed to arrive near the flotilla Thursday afternoon. It was not clear if more appeared on Friday. The ships had been sent after the flotilla said that it was attacked on Tuesday evening when it was sailing about 65 kilometers (40 miles) south of Crete.
After the attack, the Flatillala approached the coast of Crete, apparently hoping for protection in Greek waters. The flotilla also joined several sailboats from Greece. This now means that the flotilla consists of about 20 ships from Spain, 20 from Italy and up to six of Greece. However, the flotilla also had to leave several ships.
The great pleasure craft called Family was left to anchor off the Cretan island of Koufonisia. It is 23 meters long and had a large crew on board. It was one of the largest ships in the flotilla, because most boats are sailboats.

The family ship has apparently had engine problems. This same ship would have been struck by a drone when he was anchoring the Tunisian city of Sidi Bou said in mid-September. It is not clear if the ship is damaged.
The crew has apparently been transferred to other ships, according to social networks reports. The flotilla was about 9 sea kilometers from the Koufonisia sailing on a southeast course on Saturday evening. This means that they leave Greek national waters. A larger ship called Life Support also came to help the flotilla. It is managed by the urgency of the NGO and can provide help. It is a 52 -meter ship built in 2002.
Flotilla is now made up of 40 ships, including the large region of Sirius Old Saip and the converted fishing vessel Estrella y Manuel. It also has the 33 -meter alma craft explorers.
Several new ships seem to sail with the group now, including San Marino reported Séulle, Renard’s hat in Australia and Captain Greek Nikos. A Netherlands sailboat called Donna also sails with the group; as well as better -known sailboats that started the trip to Spain like Mikeno VI and Inana. The Spanish ship Jeannot III, a sailboat, seems to have remained with the family for the moment.
Spain and Italy would have sent naval ships to accompany Flatilla
According to reports, Spain sent the fury of naval vessels (P-46) to support the flotilla. It is not clear to what ability it will support the group, or only provides monitoring and dissuade attacks in international waters.
Italy sent the Fasan (F-591) and Alpino (F-594) to the flotilla. Nor is it clear what will be the task of these ships.
