Steve Grady was the secondary coach of the Loyola football team in 1975 who went 13-0, won the championship of the southern AAAA section and was recognized as a legendary national champion. He would have become head coach later.

But this 1975 season has produced perfection. He and the players of this team were honored on Friday evening at a 50-year meeting at Loyola-St. Francis Game.

The head coach was Martin Shaungangey, who was hired after a season of 0-9 in 1972. The rest is in history. He has shot the program in three years. The Cubs beat the Alma Mater of Shauringssy, St. Paul, in the 1975 final at the Colosseum.

Grady took office as a head coach in 1976 after Shaungangey moved to the long Beach City College and went 269-77-6.

It was an unforgettable night because Loyola released a 9-3 victory in overtime against St. Francis. Kane Casani managed a 30 -yard touch to finish the game after the student’s interception in the second malic year Pollard.
