Police Department in Rashida Tlaib’s District Introduces First-Ever Arabic Patch for Officers – RedState
The DEARBORN HEIGHIGNE DEARBORN Police Department unveiled the first police patch in the United States featuring English and Arab lettering, a move to reflect the large population of the city’s Middle East.
The department celebrated the patch in an article on Facebook Wednesday evening, praising the officer Ermly Murdoc, the person who designed and created them. They note that the Arab lettering on the patch is optional because they seek to “honor diversity” in their community.
The census data reported by the Free Press Strait in 2023 show that the city of Dearborn Heights is around 39% of the Middle East or the North African (MENA), most of these Arabs. Neighbor Dearborn has a population of almost 55% with Mena Ancestry, also with most of Arabic.
“We are proud of the creativity and dedication of Agent Murdoch to help our department better represent the people we serve,” said the Facebook page of the ministry.
“Our officers proudly serve all the members of our community, and this new design is another way of celebrating rich cultures that make our city unique.”
Their message provides an image of the new patch showing both English and Arab letter. The comments were disabled for the message.

It should be noted that Rashida Tlaib is the representative of Dearborn Heights and Dearborn, the latter housing the largest American Muslim population per capita, as well as the largest mosque in North America.
President Donald Trump carried Dearborn Heights on Kamala Harris in the 2024, 44-38%elections. Redstate reported in the weeks preceding the elections that dozens of imams and religious leaders had sowed confusion in the community, alternately encouraging Muslims to vote for and against Harris.
Imam Hassan Qazwini, who founded the Islamic Institute of America in Dearborn Heights, said that he “did not know anyone who would vote for Harris”.
Duel letters were published with Muslims encouraging to vote for Harris and another who pressed them to vote a third party. This confusion may have played a role in the results. The candidate of the Green Party, Jill Stein, collected 15% of the votes.
Trump also worn Dearborn, with 42% of the votes, 36% of Harris. Stein received 18%.

President Trump in March signed a decree designating English as the official language of the United States.
“From the Foundation of our Republic, English was used as a national language. The historical governance documents of our nation, including the declaration of independence and the Constitution, were all written in English,” read a declaration of the White House at the time.
“A language designated at the national level is at the heart of a unified and coherent society, and the United States is reinforced by citizenship which can freely exchange ideas in a shared language.
Trump said that making English the official language of America is an essential way for immigrants to assimilate in the country.
