Law enforcement is asking for Ring camera footage from residents and businesses near Brown University after 10 people were shot on Saturday.

“[Those who] have a Ring camera in the area of the shooting should be reviewing that right now and see if there’s anything that looks suspicious,” sad Providence Police Commander Tim O’Hara.

The shooter was still at large and a shelter-in-place order was still in effect for Brown University and the surround community as of 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect was a man wearing all black, police said. Investigators were canvassing the campus and its buildings, speaking to witnesses.

O’Hara spoke during a press conference in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday night, where officials confirmed the shooting left two dead and eight seriously hurt. All eight were in critical but stable condition, officials said.

“Yes, so the unthinkable has happened … we will bring all our resources to the table,” Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee said during the press conference. He added the state has been in contact with the White House and Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey.

“This is a sad state of our country right now where you have to plan for these things,” said Providence Mayor Brett Smiley during the press conference.

“Hopefully, the community takes some comfort to know that their Providence leadership has planned for this occurrence,” Smiley said.

The fatal shooting began at around 4:05 p.m. inside the Barus & Holley Engineering building, officials said. A final exam was taking place inside that building between 2 and 5 p.m.

It is unclear how the suspect entered the building or whether the shooting happened during the exam, nor the exact individuals who were inside the building at the time of the shooting.

A massive law enforcement presence, which included the FBI and multiple partner agencies, could be seen surrounding the university.

“Lock doors, silence phones and stay hidden until further notice,” read the first emergency alert came from Brown University at 4:22 p.m.

“Remember: RUN, if you are in the affected location, evacuate safely if you can; HIDE, if evacuation is not possible, take cover; FIGHT, as a last resort, take action to protect yourself. Stay tuned for further safety information.”

University officials initially told students and staff that a suspect was in custody, before later saying that was not the case and that police were still searching for a suspect or suspects, according to alerts issued through Brown’s emergency notification system.

A family reunification at Brown University will be set up at 7 p.m., Smiley said. Students have been relocated to receive support services at a secure location, the Brown University provost stated.
