Costco lowered the price of several popular food items and added a few new ones during the first quarter of fiscal 2026, which ended in late November.

“As always, our goal is to be the first to lower prices when we see opportunities to do so,” Gary Miller, Costco’s chief financial officer, said during a December earnings conference call.

Costco is still able to offer products at lower prices than its competitors. One study found that 16 different common breakfast items cost an average of 30% less at Costco than competitors like Walmart and Target.

Costco is able to offer cheaper prices by offering a much more limited selection of products in stores, which allows the chain to buy in bulk from suppliers and pass on discounts to customers.
