Predator and Rake-Stomp, The Curious Folkways of Trump 2.0

After Friday and Monday’s back channels, full of worrying progress of Trump’s White House, we can see today the double nature of Trumpism, both predatory and absurd, methodical and without fictitious. The key to the fight against Trumpism is to recognize that the two are simultaneously true or any reality invalidates the other. Trump federalization of the Metropolitan Police of DC is an example. The president can take control of the DC police for up to 48 hours. With the notification of the relevant committees of the congress, the president can maintain this control for an additional 30 days. After that, he demanded that the authorization of the Congress continues to control the DC police.
Can Trump clean DC Crime Hellscape in 32 days? It seems unlikely. Will Congress allow him to continue the 32 days? Maybe. But certainly certainly. Trump’s margins remain thin and this is the kind of problem where at least a few Republicans could refuse. Has the president remained focused on becoming the DC police chief and the mayor where the effort will take place by the way? Was any more than an excuse for a press conference led by the news cycle?
