Prep talk: Loyola lacrosse team is making noise with domination

When it comes to high school lacrosse, Loyola has one of its best teams this season and that is reflected in last week’s winning margins – 29-0 against Sierra Canyon and 28-1 against Crespi.
“It’s very unusual,” coach Jimmy Borell said of the lack of goals allowed.
Much of the credit goes to the defense and Andrew Golden, a junior who handles faceoffs. He is at 92.4 percent winning faceoffs for the 5-1 Cubs, whose only loss came to San Francisco’s St. Ignatius 12-11.
The top scorer was Tripp King, reigning player of the year in the Southern Section and committed to North Carolina. He has 22 goals and 17 assists. Senior Chase Hellie (Tufts commit) and Everett Rolph led the defense, making it easier for guards Will Russo and Garrett Flynn.
Loyola is scheduled to travel to Florida and the University of Notre Dame to take on top East Coast teams starting Saturday.
