Prisco’s Week 1 NFL picks: Jets spoil Aaron Rodgers’ debut with Steelers, Bills beat Ravens, more predictions
Let me start the NFL 2025 selections column with a factual declaration:
My choices pugs last year.
It was not my best season with regard to the choices of the NFL. I was not the worst of my cbssports.com experts choose the crew, but it was not very good. None of us really was.
It changes now.
It is a new season, which means that like each fans base and each team, optimism is part of my equation. I will be better. I must be better.
The choices of week 1 are always a challenge, but I feel pretty good about it. The recording is 0-0 at the moment, so the slate is clean.
New season. New hope. Lots of belief in my choices.
Last season is in the rear view mirror, so let’s start this fucking season – and stop showing my 2024 record.

Sunday, 1 p.m. on Fox (Stream: Fubo – Try for free)
BUCS are the favorites of the division, but the Falcons are considered the main threat. This makes it a big opener. The two teams have injuries on their attacking lines, which could have an impact on the game, but I think Baker Mayfield is ready for a big year. Falcons still have defensive questions, which will appear. Michael Penix Jr. is not going to follow. Bucs take it.

It will be Daniel Jones who will make his heavers’ beginnings in the quarter-Arrière against a secondary in Miami who is not exactly filled with leading corner leaders in corner. It’s a great chance for Jones. Dolphins should be able to launch it on the other side, especially if Tyreek Hill is back in good health. Look for a game at high score, the colts finding a way at home.

This is the start of Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, who should animate the offense. Look for Trevor Lawrence to play well here and keep an eye on the use of Travis Hunter. Panthers feel good about Bryce Young after last season, but I think the Jaguars get the best of him here. The jaguars take it.

It is a long first trip for raiders led by Pete Carroll. The Patriots will also ask Mike Truebel to make his debut as a coach. Patriots should be improved this season, but I think Geno Smith will do it here to remove it late. Carroll takes revenge on the team that dismissed him.

Commanders will win it, but it’s close.

It will be the first start of Cameron Ward’s NFL for the Titans, and it accumulates against one of the best defenses in the League in one of the most difficult places to play. It is difficult sled. I’m looking for Bo Nix to succeed in launching it for Denver on the other side. Broncos take a quick start, while defense closes the door by limiting Ward.

The 49ers won seven of the last eight in this series, but Seattle won on November last. These teams are very different now. The 49ers were struck last year, but Christian McCaffrey and the left platform Trent Williams are two of their stars which are back. This will matter. The Seahawks will have Sam Darnold who will make his first departure in the quarter. It is always difficult to play at Seattle, but the 49ers know how to win. They will do it again.

These are two of the best NFC teams, which is a great way to open the season. The Lions have two new coordinators in attack and defense, which is something to watch. Packers seem to be everything in motion to get Dallas Micah Parsons. How much can it have an impact on this game without participating in the camp is a big question. This has the appearance of a game with many points with Jordan Love to remove it late.

This is the first game of the week, with two of the Super Bowl favorites. The Bills beat the Ravens in the playoffs last year, so Lamar Jackson and Gang are looking for a return on investment. I don’t think they get it. Being on the road on Sunday evening for your first game is a difficult thing to overcome, but it’s really difficult because of the opponent. Josh Allen and the Bills will win a loved one.

It will be JJ McCarthy who will make his first start of the NFL in the quarter-Arrière for the Vikings, while Ben Johnson made his coach debut for the Bears. The Chicago offensive with Caleb Williams should be better with Johnson, while McCarthy is a great stranger. Making your first start on the road is always difficult. It will not be different. The bears take it in a small upheaval.
