While several celebrities were spotted in attendance at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s lavish wedding in Venice this weekend, some stars weren’t too impressed by the extravaganza.
The Amazon founder and his new wife officially tied the knot on Friday to kick off their opulent $50 million, three-day wedding celebration, attracting outrage from both protesters and famous faces alike.
Charlize Theron took a jab at the couple when she mentioned their wedding during her fifth annual block party for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project on Saturday.
“I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding, but that’s OK because they suck and we’re cool.”
The actress went on to speak about the state of the country, adding that “in the U.S. and across the globe, we’re moving backwards fast” and “the world feels like it’s burning because it is.”
Rosie O’Donnell echoed a similar sentiment, expressing her criticisms of the nuptials in a poem she titled, “Jeffs Wedding,” published to her Substack.
“It turned my stomach seeing all these billionaires gathering in the gross excess of it all, the show of it,” the comedian wrote. “Is Oprah friends with Jeff Bezos, Really— how is that possible, he treats his employees with disdain, by any metric he is not a nice man.”
O’Donnell continued, “And his fake fem bot wife, who looks like that, why would he choose her, after the salt of the earth Mackenzie,” referring to Bezos’ ex-wife. The comedian also described the event as “worthless performative nonsense.”
Meanwhile journalist Katie Couric candidly made a comment about Sánchez’ wedding dress, describing the custom Dolce & Gabbana gown as “tacky.”
“Welcome to the eighties—when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled,” the former TODAY host wrote under a now deleted post shared by Jack Schlossberg. “Apparently tacky is back.”
Megyn Kelly also had some harsh words about the couple’s appearance, saying Bezos resembles “a walking penis.”
“I venture to say some other things have happened there to make him look like that,” she said on the latest episode of Kelly’s SiriusXM show. “He does look a little too taut and it does give penis vibes. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not a good look for him.”
Olivia Munn took to Instagram with subtler shade towards the newly married couple, commenting on Mia Farrow’s IG post praising Jeff’s ex-wife, Mackenzie Scott.
“How awesome is MacKenzie Scott!” Farrow captioned the post paired with Scott’s photo. “As of mid-December 2024, she had given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1600 charitable organizations.” Munn commented on the post saying, “Truly incredible.”
While Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez face growing backlash over their wedding spectacle, the couple’s sta- studded guest list was stacked with Hollywood’s elite including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sydney Sweeney, Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Tom Brady.
