‘Puncture’ found in American Airlines plane in Colombia
A flat tire has been discovered on an American Airlines plane in Colombia, according to the carrier.
The airline’s team discovered a “puncture on the exterior” of one of its planes in Medellin after a routine inspection, the airline told USA TODAY.
“The aircraft was immediately removed from service for further inspection and repairs,” American said in an emailed statement. “We will work closely with all relevant authorities to investigate this incident.”

No theft issues or injuries have been reported. The airline did not say when the puncture was discovered or what the cause was. The Federal Aviation Administration had no information to share about the incident.
Colombian aviation authorities did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
