Putin Has Never Said There Are Too Many Lives Lost in War

On Fox News Channel’s “The Story” on Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that Vladimir Putin never acknowledged that there was too much loss of life in the war in Ukraine and that “Russia has never wanted to acknowledge that, and has always been willing to suffer more than most countries.” This kind of loss, amounting to millions of victims, would never be tolerated by any other country except Russia.”
Host Martha MacCallum asked, “The only side that hasn’t said they are discouraged by the number of killings and by all the deaths, in many cases, of these young men, many Russian soldiers, many Ukrainian soldiers, is Putin. Has Putin ever said this is too much loss of life, and I have to come to the table and we have to find a negotiation so the war can end?”
Whitaker responded: “He didn’t. But Russia has never wanted to acknowledge that, and has always been willing to suffer more than most countries. Those kinds of losses in the millions would never be tolerated by any other country except Russia. And, at the same time, this is what they are doing for very little, if any, gain on the battlefield, and we have to accept the reality as it is. I think that “That’s what President Trump is really good at, which is, even through all the chaos and death and destruction that we see on the battlefield, he’s still willing to push through a peace deal and see if there’s a possibility.”
