President Donald Trump addressed his long relationship with Jesse Jackson following the latter’s death Tuesday, adding that the civil rights activist “couldn’t stand” former President Barack Obama.

Trump began an article on Truth Social with a tribute to Jackson.

“The Reverend Jesse Jackson died at 84. I knew him well, long before he became president. He was a good man, with a lot of personality, courage and street smarts. “He was very gregarious – someone who really loved people! he wrote.

The president said he has enjoyed helping Jackson over the years, whether by providing office space for the Rainbow Coalition, establishing Opportunity Zones, or advancing criminal justice reform during his first term as president:

Despite being falsely and consistently called a racist by the scoundrels and lunatics of the Radical Left, ALL Democrats, I always had the pleasure of helping Jesse along the way. I provided office space for him and his Rainbow Coalition, for years, in the Trump Building at 40 Wall Street; Responded to his request for help in passing and signing CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM, when no other president would even try; He single-handedly pushed for and passed long-term funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), something Jesse loved, but also something other presidents would not do; Response to Jesse’s support for Opportunity Zones, the most successful economic development program ever approved for Black businessmen/women, and much more. Jesse was a force of nature like few others before him.

Trump then lashed out at Obama, saying Jackson didn’t like him.

“It has a lot to do with the election, without recognition or credit, of Barack Hussein Obama, a man Jesse could not stand,” he wrote.

“He loved his family very much and I send them my deepest condolences. We will miss Jesse!” concluded the president.

On November 12, Jackson was hospitalized after battling progressive supranuclear palsy, a progressive neuromuscular disease, as noted by Breitbart News. The disease is similar to Parkinson’s disease.
