When Amazon launched its first Kindle in 2007, it launched an entirely new e-reader business. But as technology has advanced, you can now use E-Ink displays for much more than reading. There are now also digital laptops, but as you might expect, they tend to be a little larger and a lot more expensive than an e-reader. The Kindle digital laptop measures 10.2 inches and typically costs well over $400, for example (although it’s currently on sale for Black Friday).
That’s where the iFlyTek AiNote Air 2 comes in. This digital laptop is smaller, at 8.2 inches, and thanks to a Black Friday deal, it’s now $399 ($100 off its usual price). But unlike the Scribe, it also comes with built-in ChatGPT access (no subscription required) for AI features like translation and text-to-speech notes.
This makes it a little closer to Viwoods’ AiPaper E Ink notebook than to the Scribe or other competitors like the Remarkable Paper Pro. And that’s great news. Lifehacker editor Joel Cunningham gave the AiPaper 4/5 stars in his review, but it’s still not for everyone, measuring 10.65 inches and having an MSRP of $549 (it’s also slightly discounted for Black Friday, but stock goes fast).
Lifehacker hasn’t used the AiNote Air 2, but in addition to being smaller and more affordable, it also introduces a 5MP camera, which could be useful when interacting with ChatGPT. It also adds a speaker, so you won’t need headphones to listen to audiobooks. It also comes with a stylus.
Along with the additions, however, there are some compromises. Storage is limited to 32GB and the battery is smaller than the AiPaper’s, at 2,600mAh instead of 4,100mAh. The resolution is also a bit less sharp, at 293 PPI versus 300 PPI, but that might be less noticeable on a smaller screen.
It’s certainly a more generic version of the product, but the basic functionality is there, and it could be a suitable, more compact and affordable alternative for people who want to take AI-assisted digital notes on the go. It also received praise on Reddit, where one user called it “the closest experience to writing on a nice pad of paper with a smooth ballpoint pen that I’ve ever had.”
What do you think of it so far?
How long do Black Friday deals actually last?
Black Friday sales officially begin on Friday, November 28, 2025, and run throughout “Cyber Week,” the five-day period from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, December 1, 2025. But the dates for Black Friday and Cyber Monday have expanded as retailers compete for customers. You can get the same Black Friday sales in advanceand we expect sales to cease by December 3, 2025.
Are Black Friday deals worth it?
In short, yes, Black Friday always offers discounts which can be rare during the rest of the year. If you want to buy something or are shopping for gifts, now is a good time to look for discounts on what you need, especially technology sales, home improvement suppliesAnd fitness technology. Of course, if you need to save money, the best way to save is to not buy anything.
Are Cyber Monday deals better than Black Friday?
Black Friday was once reserved for big retailers and more expensive technology and appliances, while Cyber Monday was for cheaper technology and gave small businesses a chance to compete online. But today, the distinction has almost no meaning. All major retailers will have sales every other day, and the best solution is to know what you want, use price tracking tools, or refer to guides like our live blog who use price tracking tools for you and don’t worry about finding the perfect timing.
