Readers sound off on abandoned vehicles, ICE expansion and 1980s culture

A neighborhood burn that invites new problems
Brooklyn: I write to ask that the Daily News attracts attention to a problem, I’m sure that in many neighborhoods in New York, but is getting more into a problem in East New York. There are a lot of abandoned VRs and tractors-tracts along Glenwood RD. Between Louisiana and Williams Aves. and along Louisiana Ave. Between Glenwood RD./Cozine Ave. and Flatlands Ave. He begins to spread in Louisiana avenue to Stanley Ave. Most are rusty and rotten and attract squatters. They represent a danger and are a nuisance for people who wish to use the Breukelelen ball park nearby. And there is a primary school with a house pâté.
These vehicles have been there for at least five years. The problem is not taken seriously. I sent requests to 311 that were sent to the NYPD, who replied that it was not their problem. A request was sent to the sanitation service and the answer was that the problem was referred to the NYPD. I even sent a message to the mayor’s office but I still expect an action -oriented response. It’s frustrating.
At the beginning, it was only one or two tractors-semi-trailers overnight who led me to believe that they were occupied by truckers who had to rest after a long trip to make local deliveries the next morning, but now the number, the types of vehicles and the people who hang out there are exploded, especially late at night. The quality of life of houses near Breukelen is seriously affected. The nights are particularly summary and it is very possible that the recent stab on Stanley and Louisiana is the result of the atmosphere of the region. Wanda Peaks
Slow stretch
Brooklyn: Can someone explain to me why the Belt Parkway towards the west stops from exit 21 until exit 17? At this point, it opens miraculously – every day, all day. For what? Andrew Cioffi
Fall behind
Manhattan: New York OP-ED public schools pass the AI “(July 27) (July 27) when I examined how, despite $ 38,000 per student, New York students are classified in reading and mathematics, and part of it is due to a lack of adaptation to innovations in learning. In my work line, we have implemented Documentation, and this was an absolute game changer in terms of innovation and time economy to switch to other tasks throughout the day. Branch Omar
Unjustifiable
Manhattan: The genocide words, apartheid and holocaust were invoked to describe the terrible humanitarian disaster which takes place in Gaza. More than 60,000 non -armed Palestinian civilians – including many women and children – were killed under the orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. These people are shot dead by the Israeli army while trying to obtain basic necessities such as food and water, which are closely controlled behind Israeli blockages. Children suffer from untreated and hunger injury, their visible bones under a skin of malnutrition, while hospitals that could provide care are systematically bombed. Netanyahu seems determined to prolong the agony of the people of Gaza, perhaps to distract their own legal problems and avoid imprisonment in Israel. Sheila Edwards
Foreign interference
Hartsdale, ny: vocer John Woodmaska asks why we allow a foreign government to put pressure on ours, and I ask the same question. Why did we authorize Netanyahu to come to America and to campaign openly against three consecutive Democratic presidential candidates? This is a good question. He is the only foreign head of government to do so in our modern history. Shouldn’t he have to register as a foreign lobbyist in this role? Norman Gaines
Persecution complex
Brooklyn: We cannot ignore the threat posed by ice agents who regularly operate under an anonymity shroud, often indistinguishable by vigilantes. In Manhattan, masked agents have arrested immigrants while attending audiences, drawing people from elevators and lobbies without judicial mandates or even identifying themselves. These non -marked and non -accounting operations terrorize communities, tearing up parents of children and neighboring neighborhoods – all without regular procedure. Many of those who are detained are asylum seekers, LGBTQ individuals and others fleeing authoritarian regimes. They are not “violent criminals”, as often claimed, but the residents who work hard who contribute to the city’s economy and culture. The 2025 reconciliation bill degenerates this crisis. It attributes $ 100 billion to ice – more than the entire military budget in any country in addition to the United States and China. And the principle of regular procedure is the cornerstone of American democracy. When we abandon it for some, we erod it for everyone. Meredith MERNA
Peaceful move
Brooklyn: I can just imagine what a republican, who thought that President Trump did it about Vladimir Putin, would have said that he presented himself to the presidency against the FDR in 1944, with the Second World War who raged: “I just want the murder to stop! Millions of good people on both sides are dead, and it must end. The FDR bombes arms and the expedition of weapons to Russia and China to fight them. Dennis Middlebrooks
Set up
San Francisco: For weeks now, President Dance has done his best to distract his broken promise to release all Epstein files. Now, after having launched his usual deviations experienced on the wall (it was the Democrats, it was Barack Obama), he now makes a colossal error to promise to continue and prison Obama, et al. For betrayal, claiming to have irrefutable evidence. Admittedly, and I hope that this too will turn a lot against the boy who continuously cries the wolf. The expression “hoisted on his own petard” is obviously about. Jimmy Layton
Endless allegations
Easton, Pennsylvania: Dear Bramhall, is there someone else in your world in addition to Trump? About these Epstein files, don’t you think someone – someone in Joe Biden’s orbit – would have found dirt on Trump after four years? They left no stone or panties (Melania) not returned. Enough already. Barbara Cusano
Return to the coal
Manhattan: In a recent article, The News wrote on Trump offering regulatory relief to the coal industry. In the past, he praised the advantages of “clean” coal. I suggest doing this policy further. Why not install a coal oven and a coal tray to heat the White House and encourage American owners to do the same? What a boost for the coal industry. He can follow this action by reducing the use of asbestos and mercury. Think of the jobs that could create. Jeffrey Nelson
Freedom of appearance
Smithtown, Li: Why is this a problem that the chief of the NYPD John Chell appeared on “DR. Phil “, who is a personality of the media respected (” a chief of the NYPD is looming as a guest on pro -Trump television “, on July 27), but his appearances on MSNBC were not – which, by the way, is anything but a supporter than Phil? Enough with this nonsense depicting each Trump supporter as worse than the Boogeyman. What is this time there for the new king of the pursuit of ambulances, the Reverend Kevin McCall, who imitates a reverend? Andrew Ross
Vice on values
Middle village: The death of Hulk Hogan reminds us that it was a stereotype for this decade: greed is good, the mistreatment of steroids, shallow heroes and short -term reflection. After all, it was the decade that brought us the popular show “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”, the film “Wall Street” and, of course, the best of all time, “Poker’s Poker”. John Puglisi
Doubts persist
Levittown, Li: Vilecer Aydin Torun asks why, after 50 years, have they never resolved sexual assault against Connie Francis at Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge in Westbury, Li, it was never resolved because people believe that she invented everything. Lee Blumberg
