Real Madrid says that they are opposed to the plans of their Rivaux Amers Barcelona to play a championship match in the United States this season, saying that the move “establishes an unacceptable precedent”.
Barcelona and Villarreal ask the permission of the football authorities to play Miami in December. Club groups have already threatened legal action if the plan is progressing, and now real has expressed their opposition to this decision.
“Real Madrid would like to express to its members, supporters and football fans in general its strongest rejection of the proposal to play the match outside of Spain … Between Villarreal and Barcelona,” the club said in a statement.
“The measure, promoted without prior information or consultation with the clubs participating in this competition, violates the essential principle of territorial reciprocity which governs the league competitions with two rounds [one game at home and the other at the opposing team’s]Changing the competitive balance and granting an excessive sporting advantage to the candidates’ clubs.
“The integrity of the competition requires that all matches be held under the same conditions for all teams. The unilateral modification of this regime breaks the equality between the contenders, compromises the legitimacy of the results and establishes an unacceptable precedent which opens the door to exceptions according to interest other than strictly of sport.
“If this proposal was made, its consequences would be so serious that they would mean a before and after for the world of football.”
Real said they had asked FIFA not to authorize the staging of the game without the prior consent of all the Liga clubs, and asked the UEFA to urge the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to withdraw the request.
Villarreal had previously promised this season that subscription holders would be offered free trips and entries if the League match was moved to Miami. The club also said that those who could not go there or do not wish to go there would receive a 20% discount on the total cost of their subscription.
If Villarreal and Barcelona finally get the green light, La Liga will be the first of the best European leagues to stage a match abroad.

The RFEF gave its approval on Monday. The case has now been referred to the European director of UEFA football to start the procedures and obtain the necessary authorization from FIFA, the Director of World Football.
