Report: Apple M4, more comfortable strap will headline first major Vision Pro update

Apple has not been it from its Vision Pro equipment since its launch at the beginning of 2024 for $ 3,499, rather opting to refine the helmet with a constant flow of software updates. But Mark Gurman de Bloomberg reports that a new version of the pro vision could happen “this year”, with a replacement for the 3 -year -old Apple M2 chip and a more comfortable strap.
Gurman says that the pro -update vision would ship with Apple’s M4 processor, which was launched in the iPad Pro last year and has since found its way in new MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, a new iMac and a redesigned Mac.
Our tests in other Apple devices (and reference databases accessible to the public like Geekbench’s) show that the M4 offering multicore CPU performance of around 50% and 20 or 25% of better graphic performance than M2 images – increasing as little as possible for a device like the pro vision which must draw high resolution images with the least possible latency. Improvements of video coding and video decoding of the chip and image signal processor should also make small improvements but noted by the video flow of the headset pass.
The report also claims that Apple works on redesigned strips for the new pro vision to “reduce the tension of the neck and the head pain” and make the helmet more comfortable to wear for longer periods. This update will not make major modifications to the design of the device itself, so it would likely approach the weight of 1.3 to 1.4 pounds from the current M2 Vision Pro.
The report does not mention any price plan in one way or another. But it should be noted that Apple functionally worked on mac prices equipped with M4 in the past year and a half, in particular by hitting the minimum quantity of RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB – a cup of a few hundred dollars would not suddenly change the pro vision in a mass brand product, but it would be a step in the right direction.
