Published:

A new report from the Government Accountability Office says the FDA does not have enough staff to carry out its oversight responsibilities.

The GAO reportreleased Feb. 3, notes that the Food and Drug Administration is responsible for overseeing the safety of nearly $4 trillion in food, cosmetics, drugs, medical devices and tobacco products sold in the United States each year. By 2024, that would represent about 21 cents of every dollar spent by U.S. consumers.
