Republican House Majority Narrows By One

Friday, the republican representative of Tennessee Mark Green submitted his resignation from the House of Representatives of the United States, narrowing the already great majority of the GOP by a seat. His departure, as of July 20, comes a few months before the tax events expected on Capitol Hill, including potential government funding in the fall.
Green, a retired officer of the American army who represents the 7th district of the Tennessee Congress since 2019, announced in June that he planned to resign after the adoption of the One Big Beautiful Bill law. Although he did not provide a calendar, his resignation letter, addressed to the Republican management, offered his release. “It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye,” said Green on X. “To my voters from the 7th district of Tennessee – Thank you.

To my voters from the 7th district of Tennessee – Thank you. The confidence you give to me is humiliating. I will come back with emotion on my years to serve as a voice in Washington. pic.twitter.com/fwjvmcrtpq

Green said that his next effort would involve helping the United States to compete with the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) in the private sector. “Although I cannot give the details here, I will do something specially designed to help America compete with the CCP, but this time in business,” he said in a video message.
His departure temporarily lowers the number of seats of the GOP in the house, reducing its current advantage until a special election is organized. Green’s headquarters will remain vacant until this competition, the date of which has not been announced.
Green was also president of the House Homeland Security Committee, where he played a central role writing borders in the law recently adopted in a large bill.
