Resident doctors in England have voted to continue industrial action over the next six months, the British Medical Association has announced.
Ninety-three percent of doctors voted to continue industrial action in a new ballot. The participation rate was 53%.
Dr Jack Fletcher, chairman of the BMA Resident Doctors Committee, said: “None of this should mean more strike action.
“In recent weeks, the government has demonstrated an improved tone compared to the abuse we saw at the end of last year.
“A deal must be done: a new jobs package and a fair pay rise offer over several years can be agreed through the goodwill of both parties, in the interests of patients, staff and the whole NHS.”
