Retired CBP agent identified as victim in Eagle Pass casino shooting

An agent with customs and American border protection agent was among the two victims killed in the deadly shooting of Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino on Sunday, confirmed Aaron Valdez d’Eagle on social networks.

Mayor Valdez described Marcus “Mark” Antley as a beloved member of the community and said that he was known for his career and his impact on Eagle Pass.

“Mr. Antley has devoted a large part of his life to the public service and the police. He will remain in the memories not only for his career but also for his generosity, his leadership and the lasting friendships which he has established in Eagle Pass and the region. His death leaves a deep void in the heart of many,” wrote Valdez on Facebook.

Valdez also undertook to support the bereaved families of those who were injured in the attack and thanked the police for their rapid work to capture a suspect.

Dimmit county judge Martha Alicia Gomez Ponce said that the other victim during the Sunday shooting was a resident of the county of Dimmit.

“Let us bring together in unity and support for victims and their loved ones in our community of the county of Dimmit,” wrote Ponce on Facebook. “My biggest condolences go to families affected by this heartbreaking event.”

The authorities have since identified the suspect as Keryan Rashad Jones, 34, from San Antonio. Jones was arrested in Wilson County following a prosecution.

Police said Jones were currently in detention in the county of Wilson / Stockdale, but will be extradited to Eagle Pass, where the investigation is based.

Police have said they had been able to obtain confirmation through vehicle monitoring systems and license plates (LPR), allowing the Texas Public Security Department to find the suspect. He now faces two capital murder leaders and five chiefs of assault with a deadly weapon.

The county judge of Maverick Ramsey English CantĂș congratulated the police for their coordinated response.

“Together, our local, state and federal partners worked 24 hours a day to put this person in detention,” he said. “Now we have to ensure justice for the victims and their families. We will not tolerate violence in our community.”
