Bob Ross paintings to be auctioned to help fund US public broadcasting

The paintings of the famous Bob Ross art tutor will be auctioned to help support public television stations that have been faced with financing cups under the Trump administration.
Thirty of his works of art, which he especially created on the air during his television program, The Joy of Painting, in the 80s and 90s, will be sold at auction by Bonhams from November.
Bob Ross Inc said that the auction “guarantees that Bob’s heritage continues to support the very medium that has brought his joy and creativity to American houses for decades”.
This occurs after the Congress has adopted Trump’s request to exceed public funding for dissemination, leaving some 330 public public dissemination stations (PBS) and National Radio (NPR) for a new source of funding.
The Ross show saw a resurgence during the cocovated pandemic, while the public appreciated his tears in a soft voice. The poorly placed brush strokes, the former Air Force drilling sergeant would say, were only “happy accidents”. He died at the age of 52 in 1995.
Bob Ross Inc said he had donated paintings on American public television, and that all net products go to local public television stations in the country.
This includes programs such as America’s Test Kitchen, Julia Child’s French Chef Classics and this Old House, reported the Associated Press news agency.
In August, the auction of two works by Ross broke records, after having sold double and triple what had been expected.
The lake under the snowy summits and the cloudy sky sold for $ 114,800, while the lake under snowy mountains and a clear sky sold $ 95,750.
“I can tell you that Bob would have been quite shy to learn that his paintings are now sold six -digit,” said Joan Kowalski, president of Bob Ross Inc, at the New York Post after the lots sold.
“He was never really interested in his finished works, Bob was more fascinated by the process of painting and sharing with other people.”
“To tell the truth, I can still hear him say something like:” You don’t want my paintings, you want to create yours and hang them proudly on your wall. “”
