‘Roads could be slick.’ Middle Tennessee schools on snow, ice watch

Middle Tennessee school districts are monitoring for the potential for winter weather Dec. 1 and overnight into early Dec. 2 as most students return to school from Thanksgiving break.
“Absolutely, we will continue to examine the latest weather data as it updates throughout the day,” Wilson County Schools Public Information Officer Bart Barker said. “At this point, we don’t expect any issues for tomorrow, but that could change if forecast expectations change from what they currently are.”
A chance for rain has the potential to turn into a wintry mix overnight, according to the National Weather Service. Any snow that might fall is minimal – likely an inch or less – but could include sleet to make for slick spots on roads Tuesday morning, especially north of Interstate 40 in Middle Tennessee.
“Roads could be slick Tuesday morning for these areas,” NWS meteorologist Scott Unger said.
Some school districts are already scheduled to be out of school on Dec. 2, coinciding with the special election for 7th congressional district, including Nashville public schools.
This is a developing story.
