Someone made a Wrapped-style recap for neighborhood complaints in your city

Every app now seems to end the year with a Spotify Wrapped-style recap, but what if you could get one for the neighborhood you live in? How many people have complained about potholes? What was the most criticized place? A new project turns neighborhood complaints into a personalized film for your city.
HTG Wrapped 2025: 24 days of technology
24 days of our favorite hardware, gadgets and technologies
311 Wrapped is a project by Khaled Eltokhy that brings the fun of Spotify Wrapped to municipal grievances. It takes public data from several major cities and turns it into an elegant, shareable breakdown of local drama. Instead of counting how many times you’ve listened to a specific artist, this tool counts complaints about things like graffiti, trash collection, and street light outages in specific zip codes.
To use the site, enter a zip code from one of the supported cities. Currently, this list includes New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Austin, Philadelphia, Boston, Calgary and Washington, DC. You will then be guided through a presentation in the form of slides and interactive maps. Right off the bat, it tells you how your ZIP code compares to other areas of the city, and it only gets better from there. All data for this project comes from 311 complaints. If you’re unfamiliar, 3-1-1 is essentially the “customer support” line for almost every city, and most also have a place to report problems online.
Unfortunately, the city I live in isn’t supported yet, but I still found it fun to travel through multiple zip codes. It was interesting to see that a lot of the things people complain about where I live are also complained about in other cities. If you live in one of the supported cities, it’s worth seeing what the “personality” of your zip code is like and seeing how your neighborhood compares to others.
This map shows you what movies and TV shows were in your area
There’s something really fun about discovering that a movie, TV show, or book takes place in a location you know. Perhaps you have wondered how many media events have taken place in your region or elsewhere in the world. There is a website for that.
