(UPI) — Actor and comedian Russell Brand has been charged with two new offenses – rape and sexual assault – committed by two new women, London’s Metropolitan Police announced Tuesday.

Brand is due in court on January 20 to answer the new allegations.

Brand pleaded not guilty to five previous charges earlier this year. These charges related to four women who alleged assaults from 1999 to 2005. This trial is scheduled for June 16. Until then, he is on conditional release.

“Women who have made reports, including those linked to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” Met Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi said.

An article published by The Times, the Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches in 2023 includes allegations of rape and physical and mental abuse against several women in Britain and the United States between 2006 and 2013.

The new rape charge dates from February 7 to March 1, 2009. The new sexual assault charge comes from another woman and dates from August 21 to December 9, 2009.

Shortly after the initial allegations, YouTube stopped monetizing Brand’s channels.

Brand is also a defendant in a civil case alleging he sexually assaulted an unnamed Jane Doe plaintiff on the set of the 2010 remake of the film Arthur.
