Russia targets Ukrainian regions far from front lines
Russia has launched a new wave of large -scale missiles and drone strikes across Ukraine overnight, local media reported on Sunday.
The independence of Kyiv said that the sirens of the air raids resounded across the country, including in the Western regions far from the front lines.
Late late Saturday, the Ukrainian Air Force had already warned of Russian bombers and drones targeting several areas.
Explosions have been reported in Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and the Cherkasy region, among others.
Explosions were also heard in kyiv overnight, reported the news agency RBK-Ukraine.
The Governor of Cherkasy initially reported at least three injuries and damage to civil infrastructure, cited by the kyiv Independent. Other regions have also reported damage caused by strikes.
The operational command of the Polish armed forces, quoted by the newspaper, said that in response to attacks on western Ukraine – which of the borders in Poland – fighter planes have been blurred and that the air defenses on the ground were activated.
