Russia’s head of space has visited the United States to discuss cooperation between Moscow and Washington on the international space station and lunar research with NASA acting chief, the first face-to-face meeting in more than seven years. Dmitry Bakanov, director of Roscosmos, met the acting administrator of NASA on Thursday, the transport secretary, Sean Duffy, before the delayed launch of an American-Japan-Russian crew at the space station. Once the rivals are bitter in the space race during the Cold War, Roscosmos and NASA cooperated on the space station and other projects. This relationship was assailed in tensions after Moscow sent troops to Ukraine in 2022, but they continued to cooperate, with us and the Russian teams flying towards the outpost in orbit.
