Samsung’s Ballie robot is probably never coming out

Samsung’s Ballie spherical robot may disappear, less than a year after announcing its retail launch. The smart home robot has made an appearance at CES almost every year since it was first announced in 2020, but was notably absent at CES 2026. Unfortunately, its demise could be because Ballie was sidelined.
In a statement emailed to BloombergSamsung said Ballie is an “active innovation platform” and “continues to inform how Samsung designs spatial and contextual experiences, particularly in areas such as smart home intelligence, ambient AI, and privacy by design.”
However, there is no mention of the robot releasing to consumers. There has been a flood of AI robots at CES this year, like LG rival Samsung’s CLOiD robot. Ballie, a bright yellow, football-sized robot with a built-in projector and Google Gemini, would fit right in, but it looks like Samsung probably won’t release the BB-8 lookalike after all.
