Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold Is Coming to the US Early Next Year

After months of teasing a foldable phone with three screensSamsung is preparing to launch what it calls the Galaxy Z TriFold — because foldable with a single hinge, this was the case last year.
THE phone is expected to be available first in Korea on December 12, and will then launch in other countries including China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. It will arrive in the United States in the first quarter of 2026.
To dispel this caveat: a tri-fold phone does not work In fact fold three times. Instead, devices like the Z TriFold have a main screen with two hinges, allowing the phone to fold into three sections. Rather, they appear to be a hybrid between a phone and, when unfolded, a tablet. The Z TriFold has a 10-inch screen when deployed and a 6.5-inch cover screen.
“The company’s decade-long experience in innovating foldable categories inspired the Galaxy Z TriFold’s unique multi-folding form factor, which uses an inward-folding design to protect the main display,” Samsung said in a blog post. “The folding mechanism has been precisely designed for easy opening and closing, with an automatic alarm alerting the user of incorrect folding through a series of on-screen alerts and vibrations.”
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold emphasizes slimness.
A Galaxy of Features Comes Together
The Galaxy Z TriFold appears to borrow elements from two of its siblings: the Galaxy S25 Edge and the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Both phones are incredibly thin, with the Edge measuring 5.8mm and the Z Fold 7 measuring 4.2mm thick when unfolded.
The Z TriFold goes even further. It’s just 3.9mm thick “at its thinnest point,” Samsung says. Reading the fine print reveals that the measurement excludes “camera and pre-installed protective film.” The thickest panel is the center one, which measures 4.2mm. The panel with the side button is 4 mm thick. Still, all of this should help reduce clutter when all three screens are stacked on top of each other.
The rear triple camera system includes a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera, similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25 Edge and Z Fold 7. There is also a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. For selfies, you’ll find 10-megapixel front cameras on the cover and on the main screen.

Like Samsung’s other high-end phones released this year, the Z TriFold is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It also has a three-cell 5,600 mAh battery – a nice upgrade over the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400 mAh battery. Samsung notes that this system “has been placed in each of the device’s three panels for balanced power and all-day endurance.” The phone supports 45-watt super-fast charging.
The Z TriFold features two differently sized hinges, “creating a smoother, more stable fold despite variations in weight and components across the device,” Samsung notes. This also helps reduce the gap between screens. The titanium hinge housing “resists wear and tear over time” and the phone’s Advanced Armor Aluminum frame should also help with durability, while also preventing the screens from touching when folded.
The Z TriFold borrows another feature from the Z Fold 7: an IP48 rating. This means the phone can be submerged under 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes and is protected against solid particles larger than 1 millimeter, but not dust. In the meantime, Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold boasts an impressive IP68 rating for water And dust resistance.
Samsung’s foldable triple display features Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front, while the rear is made of glass and ceramic fiber reinforced polymer.
Multitasking is one of the benefits of a larger main screen.
Why would anyone buy the Galaxy Z TriFold?
So what’s the point of a phone that folds out into a giant 10-inch screen? Samsung says the Z TriFold is great for multitasking.
“Users can use the screen with endless versatility: They can create side-by-side across three different apps in portrait format, resize apps in multiple windows to clearly display the most important information, or hold them vertically when reviewing documents for better focus,” the company notes.
Samsung also claims that a larger screen can be useful for watching movies and TV shows. And if you’re watching a YouTube video, you can simultaneously read the comments on the neighboring screen. Samsung notes that “minimized creases on the device help keep content seamless and uninterrupted.” This will be a crucial element.
The phone’s AMOLED case and main screens have a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The cover screen offers a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits, while the main screen features a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will arrive with Android 16 And A user interface 8. It’s unclear how much the phone will cost, but given the Z Fold 7’s $2,000 starting price, it’ll probably be a pretty penny.
