‘Sarge are you OK?’; bodycam footage released in deadly encounter

PORT ST. LUCIE − Port St. Lucie police have released body camera footage of a Dec. 1 incident in which investigators say a man opened fire on officers.
Veteran Sgt. Erik LeVasseur was shot in the face and the man police identified as the shooter, Frankie Salvatore Riccio, 32, died after police returned fire.
“What are we doing, where is he, where is he?” » says a voice as a series of apparent gunshots begins.

Quickly, a voice said: “Sergeant, are you okay?
LeVasseur was listed Dec. 2 in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment.
The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at an address on Southwest Lake Park Drive in a gated community.
