Schalke set to appoint Maximilian Lüftl as head of scouting and transfers

FC Schalke 04 have reportedly reached an agreement with Maximilian Lüftl, according to recent reports from Kicker.de.
The 31-year-old will join 2. Bundesliga top flight club Gelsenkirchen as head of recruitment and transfers.

It is unclear when Lüftl will take up his new role. On paper, he is still employed as scout leader at Hannover 96 until the summer.
However, given recent developments, it is not unlikely that Hannover and Lüftl will part ways prematurely.
Just yesterday, the Lower Saxony club officially presented Jörg Schmadtke as successor to sporting director Marcus Mann.
Furthermore, Kicker assumes that Lüftl no longer has much influence in the preparation of summer transfers.
A quick departure to Schalke therefore seems logical, where Lüftl will succeed Ben Manga, who had to leave his post around three months ago.
