Scott Bessent Demolishes Media to Their Faces Over Narrative About Trump’s Health – RedState
President Donald Trump has some excellent choices in his Cabinet, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is certainly one of them. He can clearly communicate the points that need to be emphasized, in a way that many cannot. And he’s not afraid to take on the liberal media and cut them down to size, even to their faces, as he did Wednesday at the New York Times DealBook Summit.
First, Bessent told them he had stopped reading the newspaper, hitting them where they lived, because they were “just this fever swamp.” Then he took on their recent history of Trump “fatigue” and simply decimated it.
“You know, in twenty, thirty, forty, fifty years The New York Times is no longer the newspaper of record,” he predicted. “I read this article, like ‘President Trump is slowing down.’ President Trump’s mental capacity – “It’s one hundred percent false. Like he only called me twice at 2 a.m. last week, instead of three times.
Bessent then discussed “one of the biggest scandals of all time, the media coverage of the Biden administration, the diminishment of Joe Biden’s abilities and the cover-up.”
“Where was the New York Times?” Bessent scolded them.

DealBook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin later said that was why he thought it was “right” to talk about it. Is it fair to bring up Trump because you let Biden down? Trump doesn’t have the same problems as Biden. Tell me how that makes sense. Suddenly they remember they’re supposed to ask about Trump.
But Bessent brushed it aside, saying Trump had just held a three-hour Cabinet meeting the day before. He then explained that Biden had gone ten months without holding a Cabinet meeting. “How are you going to invoke the 25th Amendment if Cabinet secretaries never see the president?” » asked Bessent.
Exactly! Biden held nine cabinet meetings during his entire tenure in the Oval Office, and only one in 2024. There were even reports that his staff isolated him from cabinet members. Some cabinet secretaries have reportedly said they don’t have access to Biden in 2023 and 2024.
Meanwhile, Trump has held nine since the start of his second term, or about one per month, and they have been visible to the public, with Trump actively directing them and even lashing out at the press in the process.

“I’ve heard people in the Treasury building say that I see more of President Trump in a day than my predecessor saw Joe Biden in six months!” Bessent said.
You have to think that the New York Times must have the feeling that Burn Bessent was just delivered to them at their own event. He just washed them down with a little dose of reality.
