Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is looking for a focused environment Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Man, I sure hope so,” Payton said of whether fans would create a playoff atmosphere on Sunday. “I say this, I’m not being critical, but sooner, sooner… No puns on the scoreboard, no following the Bronco lead or anything. Let’s go. When they get in the group – deafening. It’s the 12th man. It’s really… There couldn’t be a better one. [Texas] A&M coined that phrase, then the Seahawks bought it from them. It really fits.”

Early in the season, Payton praised Broncos fans for their wholehearted support of the team during several games. The Denver faithful have also been a force to be reckoned with on the road in 2025, creating a mini home-field advantage in several stadiums around the league.

Ironically, this isn’t the first time Broncos players or coaches have had an issue with the stadium’s scoreboard operator. In 2014, Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning challenged the scoreboard operator while on offense and told reporters, “I need to have a little chat with him.” » Soon after, it was almost silent as the offense took the field. This continued for a while, until the home fans were forced to chant the game clock so the offense could run a play.

Now, Payton wants the stadium to reach a roaring level, all the power of “Rocky Mountain Thunder.” “That’s what’s so exciting about this game, and what a win in this game can do for the next two games,” Payton said. “Remember, okay, we were in a dome [in New Orleans]but there are about four stadiums in this league that can be deafening. I think ours in the last Green Bay start, we heard it. They actively participate if they want two more home games. No quizzes. No, “Did you know?” None of that. That’s what we do at basketball games.

Bring on the thunder!
