Sec Duffy Does Some Heavy Lifting (Literally) to Make Air Travel Better – RedState

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy did a big job (literally) to improve air travel, announcing $1 billion from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to make travel family-friendly again, before putting his money where his mouth is and taking on the MAHA traction challenge.
At a news conference Monday at Washington’s Reagan National Airport in D.C., Duffy said the Trump administration is going to make airports a healthier, family-friendly place with things like mini gyms, play areas and nursing pods, among others.

“I’m announcing to the DOT that we have $1 billion in funding for grant programs to improve the airport experience,” Duffy told reporters.
Later, in an article on X, the Transportation Secretary explained how part of this grant could be used to improve travelers’ experience at the airport.
Here is what we are announcing today @USDOT to make your trip better for YOU:
1 BILLION DOLLARS is now available to make airports more FAMILY FRIENDLY!

“Here’s what we’re announcing today at @USDOT to make your travels better for YOU: $1 BILLION is now available to make airports more FAMILY FRIENDLY!” Duffy wrote.
“From exercise and play areas to healthy eating options and reading stations, we’re making travel family-friendly again,” he added.
For eagle-eyed viewers, you may have noticed a pull-up bar behind Duffy, who was joined by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who also spoke about ways to offer more healthy food options at airports.

The two members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet then took turns doing pull-ups on that bar to promote the idea of exercising in what could be airport gyms before boarding a plane.
Hilariously, Duffy introduced his performance by saying that HHS’s RFK Jr. does pull-ups all the time, and at DOT they don’t have time.

Duffy recently made headlines when he called on travelers to shun pajamas and dress nicer, to make the travel experience better for everyone.
“It’s not about mandates. It’s not about requirements. It’s about a conversation about can we offer healthier options?” he added when asked about it on Monday. “How can we make the experience, as we’re all traveling together, a little bit better? That’s the conversation we’re having. But I’m not shoving that down anyone’s throat…I’m not fining anyone for wearing their pajamas on the plane.”
During Schumer’s shutdown, Duffy truly took on the Herculean task of keeping the air traffic control system running smoothly and the shortage of air traffic controllers that led to cancellations and delays.
