Miguel Angel Garcia-Hernandez, an inmate who was shot dead in an immigration and customs establishment in Dallas last week, died on Tuesday, his family announced and a spokesman for the Hispanic Civil Rights Lulac.

Garcia-Hernandez had been in force after a sniper drew on the establishment of a roof in what the authorities called an act of targeted violence against federal immigration agents. However, all the victims were prisoners.

He lived in the United States for two decades but had no legal status. He was arrested in the establishment after being arrested on August 8 for leaving under the influence.

In a press release, his wife Stephany Gauffeny described Garcia-Hernandez as a “good man, a loving father and the supplier of our family”.

“We had just bought our first house together, and he worked hard every day to make sure our children needed what they needed,” said Gauffeny. “His death is an insane tragedy that left our family broken. I don’t know how to explain to our children that their father left.”

Garcia-Hernandez was the father of four children, aged 3, 8, 12 and 14 years old. The couple was waiting for a fifth child-Gauffeny can give birth at any time since they was 39 weeks pregnant, she said.

In an interview with NPR on Saturday, Gauffeny said: “Before being arrested … He said to me:” Ok, my next pay check, you know, we are going to go out and buy the baby all that. “”

“And, you know, it never happened,” she said with tears in her eyes.

A second detainee, Norlan Guzmán Fuentes, 37, from El Salvador, was also killed during the shooting. A third detainee, Jose Andres Bordones-Molina from Venezuela, was injured during the shooting.

The Ministry of Internal Security or Ice did not immediately respond to a request for comments. In a statement at NPR on Saturday, Ice called the three victims as “foreign criminal foreigners”.

According to the authorities, the alleged shooter was Joshua Jahn, a 29-year-old man who died of a self-inflicted injury. He sought to “terrorize” ice agents, according to Nancy Larson, the acting American lawyer in the Northern District.
