See stunning images of June’s Strawberry Moon

You may have noticed that the moon looked a little different last night – it was full, low and in some places brilliant with a bright pink shade.

It was the June strawberry moon – so named not because of the reddish glow, but because its homonymous fruit is ready to be harvested in June.

The full moon culminated in illumination at 3:44 am on Wednesday, according to the former Almanaque farmer.

In some places, rightly so, the moon radiated with a red and pink glow resembling strawberries because of its low position and its light passing through the densest parts of the atmosphere. The phenomenon was visible in New York, Florida and through the pond in the United Kingdom and Cyprus.
