the New ‘Melania’ Documentary Is Hitting Amazing Numbers – RedState

My colleague Bob Hoge had the chance to attend a screening of the new documentary “Melania” in the Century City neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday.

Bob thought it was a “fascinating look into the corridors of power – something that, to a political junkie like me, was ambrosia.”

It was her movie, and she shined, but some of my favorite moments featured Donald and their son, Barron. At one point, as someone detailed a long list of things the president had to do during that day, he joked (paraphrasing, because no recording was allowed), “And then I make America great again?” »

He was also struck by the power of the moment when they arrived and Joe Biden left, seemingly barely able to walk, and thankfully gone, so he could no longer harm America.

Looks like a lot of people are joining Bob in loving him, much to the surprise of the liberal media.

According to Deadline, the film is expected to gross $8.1 million, which would make it the best documentary debut in a decade, reporting that “sales are increasing, with Florida and Texas sizable, for the First Lady’s big screen debut.”

Not only that, but the viewership ratings are off the charts.

[B]But the release scores are pretty regal with an A CinemaScore, 5 stars on Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak, and get this – a definitive 89% recommendation; unprecedented for any film. If a film is in the 70 percentile range, it’s exceptional. [….]

The participation rate here is almost that of a faith-based film: 72% women, including 72% over 55 years old. The Rotten Tomatoes audience score is 99% while critics based the film on 6%. Melanie plays best in the South (12% above norm) and Mid-South, with Cinemark Palace 21 in Boca Raton, Fla. currently being the picture’s highest-grossing location, at over $10,000. Pic’s most profitable markets are Dallas, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Miami, Minnesota, Nashville, Jackson, MI; St. Louis, Las Vegas, Cleveland – the list goes on…no New York or Los Angeles in this group.

So, virtually all viewers give it a high rating, but critics give it a six percent rating.

Talk about prejudice and completely missing the boat on what people think – could there be a sharper contrast? And it’s okay despite the effort to do it. Indeed, it might help him, because most people don’t trust appraisers.

The left is just going to have to get by, but we hear some gnashing of teeth about it.
