Selena Gomez Ditches Bridal White to Wear This Winter’s Most Popular Coat
Selena Gomez is officially out of the honeymoon scene, at least when it comes to her bridal fashion days.
Even after her wedding to Benny Blanco on September 27, Gomez seemed to maintain her all-white color palette while slowly integrating Rare Beauty burgundy back into her everyday wardrobe. However, it seems like the siren call of the black wool coat was too strong to ignore — or that she just wasn’t putting as much thought into her clothing color story as I was. Either way, she just stepped out in an all-black look for a casual date night with her husband amid the torrential rains of Los Angeles.
On November 15, DeuxMoi shared a few photos of Gomez outside Saffy restaurant wearing a faded black graphic tee under a black wool coat, which she paired with slouchy pants, chunky boots, and a black embossed Louis Vuitton logo bag. In keeping with the rainy day vibe, Gomez kept her makeup minimal and dewy, tucking her slightly damp bob behind her ears. You can also see the effortlessly chic photos on Backgrid’s Instagram page, where you can get a better look at her merlot manicure.
In recent days, rain in Los Angeles has prompted Hollywood celebrities to wear the same coat you’ll see on all the cool New York City commuters and celebrities over the next few months. Before Selena Gomez stepped out for a date with Blanco, Margaret Qualley was seen wearing a similar coat to a screening of her new film, Blue Moonwhile Jennifer Aniston paired a black wool coat with cuffed cigarette jeans for her own date with Jim Curtis.
In New York, Jenna Ortega took an oversized approach to the same combo, pairing her loose wool coat with wide-leg cuffed jeans and platform boots. Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter recently paired her black wool coat and jeans with a burgundy bag and an oversized plaid scarf for the most autumnal take on the cozy uniform. I can’t stress enough how many celebrities are currently seeking a version of this must-have capsule.
I don’t know who is behind this propaganda about wool coats but it’s starting to have an effect on me. Okay, it’s not really a conspiracy: the truth is that this coat is timeless, comfortable, and goes well with practically everything. No wonder Selena Gomez couldn’t resist the excuse to escape.
