A Parent’s Love – RedState

Hello and welcome to RedState’s “Morning Minute” – a quick look at the stories trending right now and a preview of what the day might bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for information to start your day.

TOP O’LE MORNING’

Red Hot at RedState

Toxic Katie Porter goes from bad to worse and pathetically tries to explain abusive videos

Her attempts to eliminate her toxicity are completely lame, and she should now call it a political career and try selling real estate – or maybe timeshares. That would seem to be more within his reach.

Absolute clown show: Democrats attempt to storm Mike Johnson’s office and accost a police officer

Watching these videos, I can’t help but wonder if they understand how ridiculous and out of touch with reality they look. This is especially true for those screaming AWFLs who make up much of the Democratic caucus.

Pritzker Finds The Internet Is Forever As Ex-Police Chief Arrests Him Over Misleading Video

Before JB Pritzker makes more videos of himself walking around neighborhoods, he might want to check the crime stats and, if they’re low, find out why.

Trend in town hall media

FBI Continues to Downplay Defensive Use of Guns

It is difficult to see this understatement as anything other than an intentional effort to undermine the argument for the Second Amendment, and it is being done at our expense as American taxpayers.

Heather Cox Richardson is not a reliable source

A true historian might be hard-pressed to be completely wrong and draw such firm conclusions from a false narrative spun by progressive online hacks.

WATCH: Dana Bash humiliates Hakeem Jeffries over his theater closing

Jeffries has no excuses and he knows it. When even Bash brings up your performative routine of victimhood, you’ve completely lost the narrative.

You know this person was waiting for this moment to say this on CNN

I already see the “Well, in private, people show you who they really are” line on this story. Exactly, that means Jay Jones is a psychopath, right?

Call a doctor! Cheryl Hines Slams Whoopi Goldberg for Questioning RFK Jr’s HHS Qualifications

This is why she is undefeated when it comes to incredible feats of ignorance. Knowledge is Goldberg’s Kryptonite.

WHAT’S ON THE POSTER?

Today, at the Capitol…

Once again, no hearings or meetings are taking place on the Hill today. The House is out, even though House Democrats are busy playing the theater of failure. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) seems determined to carry out his ruling as a strange Swamp version of Major Kong.

What’s new at the White House

Fresh off his Middle East peace jaunt, President Trump had a busy Tuesday, which included a meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei, followed by a moving Medal of Freedom ceremony in the Rose Garden to posthumously bestow the honor on Charlie Kirk. His Wednesday might start a little quieter, but he’s scheduled to take part in a press conference with FBI Director Kash Patel from the Oval Office at 3 p.m. Eastern – we don’t know what yet, but we can expect it to be popcorn-worthy. In the evening, he organized a “ball dinner” in the East Room.

Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha also attended the Medal of Freedom ceremony on Tuesday, standing alongside and supporting Erika Kirk.

Second. State – Marco Rubio — Rubio is rightly recognized for his role in the administration’s foreign policy successes. On Monday, he celebrated the peace agreement and thanked President Trump for his leadership.

Plenary press…

Two other arguments are expected to be heard before the Supreme Court on Wednesday:

  1. Louisiana v. Callais — (the big one on redistricting) — In this case, the majority of a three-judge court sitting in the Western District of Louisiana struck down SB 8 as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. The questions presented are:
    1. Did the majority err in concluding that race predominated in the legislative elections?
    enactment of SB 8?
    2. Did the majority err in concluding that SB 8 failed strict scrutiny?
    3. Did the majority err in subjecting SB 8 to Gingles’ prerequisites?
    4. Is this action non-justiciable?
  2. Case v. Montana — Whether law enforcement can enter a home without a search warrant based on less than probable cause that an emergency is occurring, or whether the emergency assistance exception requires probable cause.

The courts were busy Tuesday, catching up after the long weekend. The Supreme Court issued its writ docket, granting certiorari in some cases and denying it in others. Regarding three of these denials (involving parental rights, the 7th Amendment, and the death penalty), one or more judges also issued opinions/statements related to the denials.

Most of the lower court activity Tuesday was superficial and procedural matters, but there was one decision worth noting:

  • ❌ State of Illinois v. FEMA (challenging withholding of FEMA funding for failure to cooperate with immigration enforcement) — Judge William Smith (Rhode Island) GRANTS plaintiffs’ motion to enforce judgment.

UPCOMING ATTRACTIONS

President Trump is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Friday.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Vice President Vance will attend a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California.

MORNING REFLECTION

I didn’t sleep well last night, although I was exhausted on the way home – I had a lot on my mind, I guess. But one of the effects of that is that I’m moving slowly this morning and my eyes are dirty and tired, so I don’t have any deep thought in me at the moment.

But I have one observation I wanted to share: On Monday, we saw 20 families reunited with their loved ones after two years of torment. The tears of joy and relief of the parents who once again wrapped their arms around their children after everything they had experienced were a balm for the soul. On Tuesday we saw Charlie Kirk honored in the Rose Garden. My heart goes out to Erika Kirk; she has a heavy load to carry. But watching this video above, it’s absolutely heartbreaking to see his mother and father, crying over their son.

It gives me the determination to hold my daughter a little tighter the next time I see her.

Editor’s note: Schumer’s closure is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and radical Democrats forced a government shutdown on health care for illegal immigrants. They own that.
