Senate Confirms Joe Kent As Director Of National Counterterrorism Center
The Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s candidate Joe Kent, as the next director of the National Counterterroism Center.
Kent was confirmed by the Senate in a vote from 52 to 44 on Tuesday evening, according to the Chamber’s Roll Call website.

His wife, Shannon, was killed in Syria on January 16, 2019, during the Islamic State operations – just a few weeks after the Trump administration announced its intention to withdraw American troops from the region.
Kent was also an acting chief of staff to the Tulsi Gabbard national intelligence director, according to a Washington Post report.
Before his appointment, Kent presented himself twice as a republican candidate for the 3rd district of the Washington Congress, first in 2022 and again in 2024.

Kent’s initial campaign in 2022 drew national attention after overthrowing the outgoing Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler in the primary, capitalizing on the conservative anger of his vote to welcome President Donald Trump in 2021.
